Space Explorer Series: framed around a toy I’ve had for years. She is a retro-looking female space explorer. She explores alien environments. These environments are inspired by fungi and lichen. These works are also inspired by the Covid pandemic before the vaccine was created and before the virus was understood, wherein we cloaked ourselves with masks, glasses, and a layer of clothing to enter a store to prevent from getting the virus. The virus environment was a strange world and each of us wore a ‘space suit’ to venture into that world. It made each of us more anonymous. But, it gave me many hours of uninterrupted time to paint in a new direction.
