Space Explorer Series: framed around a toy I’ve had for years. She is a female space explorer in a retro-looking (mid-Century) space suit. She explores alien environments inspired by fungi and lichen. These works are also inspired by the Covid pandemic. The virus environment was a strange and threatening world and each of us wore a protective ‘space suit’ to venture into that world. It made each of us more anonymous. But, it gave me many hours of uninterrupted time to paint in this new direction.
